Course Description

Creative Nonfiction has been called the characteristic literary form of our time. But its aims are perennial ones. It offers a chance to grasp, explore, examine, celebrate and, perhaps, even make some sense of the lives led and the worlds led in them. Class time will be devoted mainly to workshop discussions of students' writings, but students also take a writerly look at some classic and contemporary examples of literary nonfiction. A goal for discussions in this workshop may be to develop a dialogue as fresh, probing, and without horizon as the creative nonfiction genre itself.
