Broadly introduces the concepts of cultural competency and cultural humility, provides categories for processing intercultural learning, and begins to build communal assessment and anticipated outcomes for individual and group travel. It is framed not simply as “preparatory” for travel, but as a more robust epistemological space-time of learning that is integral to the other two phases of Theo TREC – namely, immersion and reentry.
